Happy Mothers Day

Being a mum is my biggest achievement.

I have two boys; Luke and Benjamin, aged 17 & 9. They both have the biggest of hearts and still love a cuddle from mum! While being a mum can be difficult at times, it is still so rewarding. I am also a mum of 8 babies in heaven, which are never far from my thoughts and the loss has shaped me into who I am today!

In December we relocated to the Central Coast NSW from Coffs Harbour. My family are in Lake Macquarie and Sydney and after 16 years of living away, it is so nice to celebrate this mothers day with my mum and my sister and our families.

During COVID, life got put into perspective. My dad was having cancer treatment and being able to see him or my mum became a risk and during lockdown, just not possible. It was time to move closer to my biggest supporters, the mother that birthed me and raised me with love and tenderness and my dad whom i am quite fond of too…lol

I have a firm belief that we must exist in photos for our children. I know i am guilty of this…there are years gaps in images with my kids, this year that changes. We have booked a session with a photographer for the end of may! My goal is to do this every year now so that i have images for our story as a family!

Last Maternity In Coffs Harbour

As Many of you know we are relocating to the Central Coast NSW in December. Last week I finished my last Maternity Session in Coffs Harbour. It came with mixed emotions of both sad but excited for a fresh start closer to family. I found this new location too which was amazing, but also sad that i can’t shoot there again :(

I am planning on coming up in Late January if there is enough demand for family sessions for my clients.

So I am pleased to share with you some images from my final session in Coffs. I met with Kym and her beautiful family for her maternity session. This amazing mumma is expecting TWINS in the next month or two.

Lockdown Blues

Well I am not going to lie, I am feeling down about not being able to photograph beautiful babies and families in the near future. I am in regional NSW and we are in our first week of lockdown with at least 2 more weeks in sight. Of course Victoria and Sydney have had this worse than us here.

I am very blessed to have a full time job as an essential worker Monday- Friday. So I haven’t been hit as hard as full time photographers in lockdown areas. I still have studio rent and bills to pay, so some overtime may be in order to get through this time.

It is appearing that in the near future my full time position will be working from home, which should be interesting with two kids homeschooling and a husband who is studying TAFE via Ms Teams 3 days per week. Like everyone else, we will need to find a routine that works well for everyone involved.

What challenges are you facing in your business or working from home new life??

Baby Ryder | Coffs Lifestyle Photographer

So as some of you may notice my work is changing. I am heading a more relaxed stye of work and i am still in the two mind set of whether i should continue with posed fine art sessions or just focus on Lifestyle studio and outdoor sessions.

It has taken about 2 years to make this shift. I am wanting to capture more of those intimate moments as they happen. I want my images to show to love, the laughs and the rawness of each moment.

This is Baby Ryder and his mumma.

I love outdoor maternity Sessions | Coffs Harbour Photographer

When i started out in photography in 2007, I started as an outdoor natural light family/portrait photographer, doing the odd wedding, but I specialised in family portraiture.

These days I specialise in Maternity | Newborn & Family Portraiture only. Although the majority of my newborn sessions are done in studio, I absolutely love the opportunity to shoot maternity & Family sessions outdoors.

I have been really blessed lately to do some of my maternity sessions outdoors.

Yesterday I met with gorgeous Kirra & Dave who are expecting their first baby in Mid December! We had a really fun and candid evening capturing this glowing mum to be! I cannot wait to capture their baby very soon!

Pregnancy & Infant Loss Month | Coffs Harbour Photographer

Some of you would have known that on September 10th 2018 I gave birth to a sleeping baby boy, Hudson Peter. Hudson is my 4th loss. Being that I was almost 19 weeks, this loss feels and is different to my previous losses, which were all in the first trimester and around the 8-10 week mark.

As October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Month, I wanted to share a little about my story. We need to break the silence for these losses. We need to support and show love to those around us who have suffered these losses. Grief affects each of us so differently and at different stages. My grief is not more important than someone who lost a bub at 8 weeks or 5 weeks or 40 weeks. It is hard for us to understand why these things happen….and sometimes we will never know. Those of us who are going through this feel lots of guilt, wondering what we could have done differently. We feel sadness and have a hole that the baby/babies would have filled. Grief takes time.

I feel I am in a good place with my grief and I am moving forward day by day. For some that grief can be overwhelming and very hard for others to understand. For those of you who know someone dealing with a loss, be compassionate. Listen and let them speak. Talking about what they are going through helps the process, until we process grief it is hard to move forward….but this takes time and this time varies for different people.

So here is my story, thanks for watching. Be kind to those around you….we all can use a bit of kindness.

Outdoor Maternity Session | Coffs Harbour Newborn Photographer

I first met Michelle a few years ago when we moved to Coffs Harbour. Over time i mentored Michelle when she had her studio in Grafton and grew a special friendship.

I was so ecstatic when Michelle asked me to capture her Maternity & Newborn sessions for her new baby. I cannot wait to meet baby in a few short weeks.

A Chilly Winter Maternity Session | Coffs Harbour Newborn Photographer

This mumma was a trooper. From the time we started chatting about her session, Jamie was super keen to do a naked maternity shoot in the forrest. I did have to remind Jamie it would be winter....but this did not deter her at all. This session was mother nature at it's absolute best. I was so free in creating the images in my head! I have wanted to do these kinds of maternity sessions for many years, but it takes a special mumma to be to do this. Please feel free to enquire with me if you wish for a clothed, semi nude or nude maternity session. No mater the session, my creativity will always run wild.

For pricing information for Maternity sessions, please see our "investment" menu above!
